About the Show
Kids age 4-16 are invited to join our world of aliens, androids, astronauts, scientists, and intrepid travelers and brave children who must open their eyes and hearts to a whole new world!
One Star Apart is a wild and fun interplanetary adventure with a message about acceptance and courage. One of Read Play Love's series of new musicals for a new generation, One Star Apart originally premiered in 2016, and now it's back for 2023!
As always, we write our musicals specifically for the kids in the show- so we'll be updating the show for the new 2023 cast. At RPL, not only does every child get a part, but they get a role actually written especially for them!

Auditions
*Children age 3-17 are welcome to audition. Our goal is to make auditions a fun, empowering experience where the kids feel great!
*We create a role for every single child participating! As we produce our own original musicals, we can freely adjust script and songs to give every child a chance to shine.
*In-person auditions are preferred, but we also will accept video auditions if none of the in-person times work. If you plan to submit a video, please sign up on the audition form.

Rehearsals
* Our rehearsal times are Thursdays & Fridays at 4:00-7:00, starting Feb 16. We try to accommodate conflicts whenever possible, and ask that families indicate conflicts with audition paperwork, so we can create the rehearsal schedule around these needs.
* Most roles will rehearse 1 day a week on a regular day (either Thursday or Friday) until the final rehearsals, which begin April 6. Some roles may need to rehearse 2 days a week, but perhaps not every week.
* Rehearsal is 4:00-7:00 at Read Play Love, but all groups may not be called for the entire time. It is likely, for example, that one group could rehearse regularly from 4:00-5:30, and another group to rehearse 5:30-7:00.
* When auditioning, families select their preference/availability and the show will be cast accordingly. The more flexible your schedule, the more casting options there are.
* While we are largely a homeschool organization, we welcome any family who is able to make rehearsal times work, and we will work with your schedule as best as we can.
* At-home practice is required. Since our rehearsal time is limited, we need each family to commit to rehearsing at home. We will give you tools to help kids with repetition and memorization in between group rehearsals.
* Parents are expected to volunteer in a capacity, based on their interests, skills and time available. A form for indicating preferences is given at the time of auditions.
* Our rehearsals are held at Read Play Love, a combination of both indoors and outdoors.
Production
* Production Week is April 11-13, and you can expect to rehearse 4:00-8:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during that week. Dress rehearsals include dinner breaks at a predetermined time.
* Performances are April 14-16, 2023, at 6pm, held at our outdoor theatre at Read Play Love! Call time is 4:30pm for the 6pm show.
