The Page to Stage Experience!
One of the most exciting Read Play Love activities has been The Page to Stage Experience! From March 2020-September 2021, kids in the program followed the adventure as our musical, The Whimsical World of Sherlock Holmes, was produced in New York City as part of the prestigious Broadway Bound Theatre Festival in September 2021.
This new musical originated as a Read Play Love musical. Broadway producer Michael Jenkins happened to see one of our performances, and encouraged us to develop the script and music for a workshop production in New York. We submitted it to New York Festivals, and were delighted to be one of only three musicals selected from hundreds of submissions to The Broadway Bound Theate Festival.
As the production went underway with a professional cast and creative team in New York, RPL kids served as Associate Producers, learning every aspect of producing a professional musical in New York, and even contributing their own ideas and input!
As The Whimsical World of Sherlock Holmes continues its journey, you can be sure that RPL kids will have a front-row seat to everything!
