Frequently Asked Questions

Performances takes place in our rustic outdoor theatre at the RPL Exploratory in Lowry Crossing (East McKinney). Bringing your own lawn chairs or picnic blanket is encouraged for the performance and dress warm and bring blankets to bundle up for a cozy afternoon of entertainment!
What is the address?
Our address is 400 Settler's Bend, Lowry Crossing TX - look for a yellow house. We are in a residential neighborhood, so please drive carefully, and follow signage for prohibited parking areas.
What is Read Play Love?
Read Play Love is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower children through the arts and create an inclusive culture of love. Our programs primarily serve homeschoolers (with some theatre activities for afterschool), and we have offerings for all ages.
What is the event schedule?
Doors open at 2pm for fun Christmas activities, followed by the live performance of 3 one-act musicals at 3pm.
Can I really donate any amount?
YES! Ticket revenue from performances of our original musicals has historically been a lifeblood for Read Play Love. In the past, we sold tickets for $10-$12 for adults, and kids’ tickets for about half of that. For this production, we are taking reservations on a donation basis. This way, those who are able to donate more can do so, and if any family would find regular ticket prices cost prohibitive, they can donate what they can. The donation model more closely reflects what RPL has always been: a heart-centered space that empowers children from all backgrounds to shine and do more than they think they can do, while bringing families together to create an inclusive culture of love.
Read Play Love provides the space – physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially – but our Members and Supporters keep it alive! And as non-profit organization experiencing unexpected circumstances in the past two years, every single dollar helps!
What is the Production?

- "Farmer Boy, Prairie Girl" - Grown Up Almanzo and Laura Wilder spend Christmas Eve telling their daughter Rose about their respective childhoods (based on the "Little House" series by Laura Ingalls Wilder)
- "Little Christmas in Concord" - Three Christmases at the March Family household are accompanied by stories about their neighbors in Concord, Massachusetts in 1860. (inspired by Little Women by Louisa May Alcott)
