About Broadway Babies: Here's a chance for the very youngest rising stars to sing, dance, and play!  This program is born from our desire to
provide a 100% playful experience with no pressure in which children can be introduced to the stage and performing with fun!

Broadway Babies is a six-week program designed by RPL Director Ms. Marney, inviting our very youngest rising stars to sing, dance, and play in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Designed as a 100% playful, no-pressure experience, it gently introduces children to the stage and the simple joy of performing.

All participants receive audio recordings and a video of the songs to build familiarity and support multi-sensory learning through at-home repetition.  Children are encouraged to go at their own pace, and absolutely welcome to watch and observe as they get more comfortable.

The 6-week session
concludes with a performance on November 6.  complete with simple costumes, props, a printed program, and flowers for each performer.

Plus, you're always welcome to stay after class to enjoy
exploring two acres of outdoor playspace, visiting our friendly chickens, or cuddling up with a book from our extensive children’s library.

About Musical Theatre U: Sondheim Studio

Step inside the world of Stephen Sondheim in a six-week Musical Theatre Studio focused on "Singing Sondheim" with Ms. Marney which also includes 4 classes of "Musical Theatre Dance & Movement" with Ms. Lisa.

Why is singing Sondheim different? Throughout all six weeks, students become Sondheim Detectives, exploring the clues he leaves for performers in every song: Why this word? Why this rhythm? Why does the music change here? How does the melody show us what the character discovers?

Through songs from Sondheim favorites including Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, Company, Sunday in the Park with George, Anyone Can Whistle and Merrily We Roll Along, performers will explore the unique ways Sondheim weaves lyrics, rhythm, melody, character, and story together.

Here's a look at the class schedule:

**Week 1: Sondheim’s Wordplay**
Lyrics, rhymes, word choices, and Sondheim's unique approach to lyrics

**Week 2: Sondheim’s Rhythms**
Patter, precision, syncopation, and musical timing

**Week 3: Sondheim’s Musical Clues**
Finding character clues hidden inside the score

**Week 4: Sondheim’s Musical Phrasing**
Breath, dynamics, phrasing, and musical specificity

**Week 5: Sondheim’s Inner Monologue**
Discoveries, contradictions, and emotional turns through songs

**Week 6: Sondheim’s Ensemble Storytelling**
Layered voices, musical relationships, listening, and telling a larger story together

PLUS...Musical Theatre Dance & Movement with Ms. Lisa
Four classes in the series will feature class with Ms. Lisa!   Using Sondheim music as source material, students will to build jazz and ballet foundations for musical theatre**, developing the technique that makes choreography cleaner, stronger, and more confident onstage.

Students work on learning and executing jazz and ballet foundations for musical theatre. Emphasis is placed on spatial awareness, efficient use of the body, intentional movement choices, and connecting choreography to character and storytelling—demonstrating how small technical adjustments can significantly elevate stage performance.
